Holiday Fun in Mrs. Boyer's Class: Making Gingerbread Houses and Sending you Christmas Wishes!!12/20/2016 First Graders sure know how to have fun! We spent the last two days making Gingerbread Houses. A special thank you for Sugar and Sass Cakery spending time this week helping us make the perfect icing for our houses. Also thank you parents for your help in coming into our classroom. We had a fun time! Ms. Reifsteck just finished her student teaching with our class. We loved having her with us. She taught the children more than just what needed to be taught. Her passion to teach young children shined this semester and her love for your children was undeniable! We will miss her....but she promises to come back. :) Today is Election Day! We have been talking about Election Day, what it is, and why it is important. We collected all of our ideas and put them into this video! Happy Election Day! Are you going to vote today? Happy Halloween! Make sure you click 'play' on the slideshow at the bottom of this post to see all of our Halloween costumes! A big thank you to the Tuscola Fire Deptartment for coming to North Ward and teaching us about fire safety! Our first graders were reminded a lot of life saving tips today! Please talk to your child about your family's safety place and make sure they know their address and phone number in case of an emergency. Grandparents....Thank you for joining us today! We love our grandparents!! You are a very important part of our education. Today we celebrate you. Thank you for all you do for us at North Ward!! This week, we have been participating in a global read aloud! We have been reading "Nana In The City" by Lauren Castillo. There are so many cool things that we have been doing to connect with students all over the globe. We have done something called Padlet, where we shared on a sticky note what we would not be afraid of anymore if we had a magic cape. We also played a game called Kahoot! and loved it!! Such a fun way to play a review game! Another thing that we have done is participate in the Global Math Task on twitter! One classroom in the country puts out a math problem each week that we must solve. We figure it out, and post it on twitter! Be sure to check us out to see what all we are doing each day! @Tuscola1stgrade
